Teaching Unit Film

Video/film introduction material

Identity and integration are two categories that are relevant for marking including and excluding social processes within society, whereas migration and refugee topics transport positive or negative pictures or even stereotypes of the other or even strangers. Reflecting both concepts in its interdependencies and effects on social and individual processes, is part of the project EiToC at hand. Movie films could open an attractive and emotional access to the topic migration, respectively current refugee topics about viewing, discussing and analyzing their basic narrative shemes and patterns. Films and media productions condense images of the other on the one hand, but film analysis opens on the other hand a critical reflection frame of media discourses about migration for example, i.e about positive and negative images and stereotypes of the other. Here part of an introduction made for the project
